Climbing Talcott Mountain

Every Friday in our house is referred to as "Field Trip Friday". This past Friday Skylar decided she wanted us to hike up Talcott Mountain on the Simsbury/Avon line. So we packed our things and went to the mountain. It looked like a nice day for a hike. We began our trek up the mountain, the first creature we saw was a bright orange newt, he was clinging to the side of a tree, he was very pretty. I took a picture but it didn't come out good. We planned on making a fairy house on the way back down the mountain, but little did we know we wouldn't get to do that. We had reached the lookout section of the mountain and took a few pictures and I found 5 monarch Caterpillar eggs to take home and hatch. At this point Lilly didn't want to walk anymore, so we stayed at the lookout while Matt and Sky continued on. About 10 minutes later they were back urging us to go back to the car. They had heard some thunder a minute ago. So we started to walk down the mountain, when it started to pour rain. We had to run all the way down the mountain because we had left the sunroof open in the car. It was pretty dangerous running with all the rain falling, but it was really fun too. When we reached the parking lot we were all running and laughing at the same time, we were SOAKED! It was definitely an adventurous field trip Friday!
